2026 Rarebit Animation Festival recap

The 2026 Rarebit Animation Festival was a success! We had an amazing turnout at the Tom Kane theater in Industry City, with CUNY animation students and faculty from Kingsborough, BMCC, Lehman, City College, Queens College, and York!

Award winners:

Animation Club Award: Uriel Moran, “No Tan Buenos Días ” (City College)

Rarebit Spirit Award: Josué Agustin Advincola, “Stream of Memories” (Lehman.)

It’s almost time for the festival!

Time: Tuesday June 16th, 7-8pm. Doors open at 6:45pm.

Location: brooklynONE Tom Kane Theater, 51 35th St. Building 5, Industry City, Brooklyn, NY. Free to attend! If you think you’ll be there, please let us know here.

This year there will be animation by CUNY students from Kingsborough, BMCC, York, Lehman, City College and Queens College.

This year’s festival was produced with the financial assistance of the ASIFA-Hollywood’s Animation Educators Forum 2025-26 Faculty Grants Program.

2025 Rarebit Animation Festival – Tues. June 10th

Tues June 10th, 2025, 6-7pm. In downstairs auditorium @  Kensington branch of the Brooklyn Public Library, 4207 18th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. This event is not affiliated with Brooklyn Public Library.

 

This year, we have work by students from Kingsborough, Hostos, BMCC, Lehman,  City College and Brooklyn College Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema.

Are you a CUNY animation student? Consider submitting work that you’ve created this year to the annual Rarebit Animation Festival!

Each year, Professor Tom Eaton organizes a festival of animation from Kingsborough and other CUNY animation students. It’s a great opportunity to show your work in front of an audience and meet animators from other CUNY colleges.
